Growing up, I had many different types of pets, from birds to rodents, dogs, cats and chickens and even a pot-bellied pig. After I graduated high school, I moved to Dover and began working at Cocheco Valley Humane Society from 1999-2002. At the shelter, I was an Animal Care Technician and Adoption Counselor. I did everything from vaccinating and adopting out animals to new homes, behavior modification, assisting on cruelty seizures, and sadly euthanasia. I have taken classes in Veterinary Technology at NHCTC in Stratham, NH. Occasionally, I would take on pet sitting from my friends and co-workers at the shelter including one friend who has 9 dogs and 10 cats!! I have also worked with wildlife rehab, feeding baby squirells, birds, and others. From there, I worked as a Technican at a Veterinary Hospital until September 2004, and then began working at Piscataqua Animal Hospital and started doing more pet sitting part-time. I have taken care of everything from domestic dogs, cats and birds, to livestock including: pigs, goats, horses, sheep, chickens, and cows and some exotics. I still regularly volunteer with Cocheco Valley and foster small animals at the hospital to help find homes for them. I have also had the opportunity to work with some exotic animals including a Cerval (wild african cat) . I have a love of American Pit Bull Terriers and Staffordshire Terriers and work towards educating the public and other dog owners of this often misunderstood and most abused breed. President Theodore Roosevelt owned one. So did Helen Keller. This breed of dog was the trademark of Buster Brown shoes and RCA Victor. Petey was the canine star of television's Our Gang. And Stubby was the most decorated dog in American history, having received numerous medals and the honorary rank of Sergeant for his services during World War I. They were all American PIt Bull Terriers
